Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Page layout and grid: Most notebooks use a 5mm dot grid, which supports bullet journaling, charting, and flexible layouts. Consider whether you prefer dot grid for structure without heavy lines, or an alternative layout like lines or graph pages for specific tasks.
- Paper weight and bleed resistance: Thicker 80 lb paper reduces ink bleed and feathering, which is important if you use markers or fountain pens. Check if the paper is bright white or cream for writing comfort and readability.
- Binding and durability: Platinum coils are common for durability and smooth page turning, while interchangeable covers offer customization. If you travel often, a sturdy binding reduces wear on the notebook.
- Size and portability: 7” x 9” is a balanced, portable size for daily carry; 8.5” x 11” offers more writing space but is less portable. Choose based on where you’ll write most often—at a desk or on the go.
- Cover design and personalization: Iconic Erin Condren designs range from geometric, floral, to character-themed covers. Interchangeable covers let you refresh the look without changing content.
- Included accessories: Stickers and color-coding tools can speed up organization and add visual cues for priorities, deadlines, or project phases.
- Use case: Decide whether you need a notebook for daily journaling, project planning, travel planning, or art and sketching. Some notebooks emphasize organization with tabs, while others focus on creative layout.
- Price considerations: While not listing prices here, compare how the features align with your budget, especially when considering bundles that include stickers or additional accessories.
Across these options, Erin Condren’s dot grid notebooks provide reliable paper, clean dot grids, and practical features for students, professionals, and creative planners. When choosing, align the notebook’s size, binding, and design with your typical writing habits and preferred workflow to maximize productivity and enjoyment.
